if you carefully study the stock exzuast you will see that there are two diameters. you have the original dia on the outside but you also have a inner metal sleeve that narrows the the pipe (therefore restricting) dont know how you would go about removing it. plus there is a catalytic convertor in the main muffler on newer models, removing this will also have benefits but you may have trouble with emmisions tests.
