$75 scoot needs tires, opinions please.
« on: September 07, 2012, 05:20:42 PM »
Afternoon gentlemen and gals,

$75 scoot needs a new set of tires.
Not sure if I will keep this scoot or sell it for funds to revise/fix an '01 Cobra Cross.

So, I read many of the previous posts here on tires and need some clarity.
IF I stay with a 80/80/16 front and 110/80/16 rear, Bike Bandit has a Shinko SR568 rear for $40.61 but no tubeless 80/80 (they have a tubed Shinko SR714 for $33.79)
So is this my only economical option? I really want tubeless on both but it appears if I put a 100/80/16 on the front, roller adjustments would be required...yes? and if I can use a 100/80/16, which one should I use? as the SR568 shows only as a rear tire.

Any help would be appreciated as I would like to order ASAP (already getting chilly where I live).

Thank you, thank you!

The 568 is a great rear only tire. I have a 120/80 on the rear. It does rub the spring slightly and I had to cut some of the inner fender.

According to my measurements a 90mm width tire will work up front, 100mm will rub the fork dust covers under suspension compression. Don't really want to cut the dust covers.

Shinko does have the 714 in 90/80 and 80/80. Not sure how I feel about a tube tire though. And it's front/rear. I don't like that either

Wow! I don't remember it being so hard to find front tires for this. Gonna have to check around some more.

This one looks pretty good. It's an 80/80 though. Still searching for a 90/80

Ok... Vee rubber 90/80

We like partsforscooters but... cheaper on eBay

Finally this is a manufacturers website. They have one 90/80 and a couple 80/90's. Where you can actually buy them? Look at the dealer list and start makin some phone calls.

Good luck. Post some results if you do purchase. I'll be buying a front tire soon too.

wow! sorry, thanks for all the time and effort...

when I ride more on these Heidenaus, I will attempt to do a thorough write up...

Yesterday a scoot mechanic took it for a spin on a rainy road (he was checking the speedo) and while he didn't ride very far, he did comment on how the tread just seems to "stick"....
