used 2009 people s200?
« on: September 09, 2012, 03:21:52 PM »
Hello all,
I have been lurking for a while and now here I am and I hope someone can help, I am looking to get my first scooter!  ;D
I am thinking of either a brand new Like 200i for round $2800 or a used 2009 People s200 with 2700 miles for $1800. Part of me feels more comfortable having a brand new scoot with a warranty and the dealer behind it, the other part says, save $1000 bucks get the used one and hope for the best!
Any and all advice would be welcome!

Don't just hope for the best, do your homework. Try to get more information on the used one from the owner or have it checked or look for signs of misuse or abuse... 2700 miles is very low ... and it may be a better deal than the brand new.... buying brand new is not a guarantee that the scoot is good even ... However, if you have doubts on the condition of the People, get the new one....

The price is high on the 2009. That's full retail value. Low miles mean nothing in scooters. In either bike the parts cost is about the same. Warranty will cover the majors tho. If you plan on commuting, and more or less everyday ride Id go new. Let the dealer deal w/ issues. If it's just for the groceries on weekends then you have nothing to loose on the used one.
Leave your car, and test ride for a few hours. Stop for lunch, and see how it starts. Get on the Hwy for a couple miles. Try some bumpy back roads. I'd also look to go around 11-1,200.00 That's the trade in value.

And delicious crabs grow on tree's. Volcano's spit out 50cc 2t scooters. The worlds best gas is .23 cents a gallon. Beautiful bikini women wash your scoot for another .23 cents. Oh yeah The best part... You can live on your own Island and drink/smoke till the volcano spits up another scooter.
I hate that place.

but floods are always a threat....  I threw out a lot of furniture after this last flood and yesterday bought a living room set made of solid mahogany. Now, Mr. flood, you try to destroy that!

I was gonna go there but thought it in poor taste (go figure) Glad you have a sense of humor about it all.
I'd be building a twenty story house by now. I' ;Dd start by making a pile of Slingers scooters for the first three stories then maybe some of 008's bull crap for mortar. From there I'd use some of Axy's money to fill in the cracks, and pile Jprestons broken dreams right up to the top floor. From there I think I can just use lumber.

No problem bro.. ;) It's really part of life now but doesnt look good viewing from the other sides. My daughter thinks floods are "cool", but scares the hell out of her grandpa (my father lives far from us and worries about his grandchildren everytime storm comes) For us, it's scary but sometimes balanced by help from family abroad.... like... chi-ching!!!$$$$  ;D ;D ;D

Thanks Zombie and Vivo!
Finally got hold of the guy "handling" the sale for the owner of the used People,  who happens to be a used car salesman,  :-\  the owner (75 year old) won't budge on the $1800 price, he said its "immaculate" and the owner hardly used it, was too big for him and before that it was owned by a college kid..... So based on what Zombie said, its not the best deal is it....? He also said the mileage is 400, but its advertised at 2700, but he may be confused with the miles/kms?

But in the meantime, going to the dealer this afternoon to test drive the Like 200i and the Super 8 150, I live out in the country with windy, somewhat hilly roads and hardly see any scooters round here, on the road or for sale,  so I am trying to figure out which would be best for me, for the windy, hilly roads and the occasional two lane highway!  The dealer also says he will knock off a couple hundred from either bike also the prep fees , its just taxes and tags after that, I think its a good deal for brand new?

Yeah, selling it for a little old man that barely rode it, it was a little too suspect for me!

But on the other hand, I went to the dealer and I am now the new owner of a Blue 2012 Super 8 150 and I will be picking it up in a day or two  ;D

Exactly what I was thinking! And he was thinking that he would be laughing all the way to the bank!

Thanks again to you and Zombie for the advice, this is a great forum!
