Bike Table
« on: September 09, 2012, 10:24:36 PM »
First, I am not a wrench head, whatever that is.  But I do like to do what needs to be done to my Yager, check tire pressure, Oil, change trans and engine oil and maybe even clean the bottom of the bike.  The problem is my knees and hips.  I walk fine, I just don't bend down to good.  So if anyone has built their own lift either out of wood, I think 2X4's and old kitchen countertop would be fine.  I am even considering a few cinder blocks and a countertop or some 2X6's that I think would be ok. But how do we get the bike on it?  So it is the ramp or lifts that may be the biggest problem.   Of course if a ramp, there are space considerations.  Lifts I think are out of the question without a skyhook.  If anybody has some ideas, maybe we can get a conversation going and come up with a solution.  Maybe, someone has already done it and will tell us how.

Now you got me thinking.......

I fancy the same thing, tho for me it would need to be able to be stored away too when not in use.

Hmmm, need to get my thinking cap on.  :)

Yes, I've already thought about hinges on the 2X4s

make a table top then a  scissor efect under neath, pivioted in the middle ,then a hydrolic ram to the top and botom of the table to floor stand.manuel pump or something. that way it can be flat on floor and then pumped up in the air.

lol.... well a table and a hoist system to the roof or thr garrage. ride the bike on then hoist it up . prob is going to be, you will need a hoist on each corner all pulled at the same time. or it will tip. for storage just hoist to the roof out of the way.

I have to do it outside.  I'm thinking about a table of some kind, a ramp and some cement blocks.  Couldn't be more simple and cheap.  :)

UPDATE; I finally got tired of it.  I had to replace the air filter.  In order to do that I had to get on my knees to get the screws out.  So, I bought a Craftsman Motorcycle/ATV Jack.  It even works on scooters and it works well.  With a small stool I can work on any part of my Yager.  So what if it cost me $115. it is worth every penny.  I have been wanting to change my tranny oil so I did it today, once I got the bike level so that it would drain, it was a snap, nutin to it.

we prob would take you up on that but getting the scoot over the big blue ocean may be a bit tricky. may have to do a top gear style thing with the scoot and a pedlow. :o
