problem?
« on: September 10, 2012, 07:35:49 AM »
race cdi with  ADJUSTABLE ignition curve...
cheep variator and boss(smooth 38mm)... £17.50
roler weight set. at mo 5.5g...
torque spring 1500
clutch springs 1500
narkau hq drive belt...
leo vince exhaust....
after market air filter....
carb jet 90( plug chop is good but may try a 92 jet see if i can get perfect reading)...
just done oil change for fully sinthetic...
gear oil change...
new spark plug....
i think thats everthing

always leave engine running 10 min befor a ride.on take off its good to 20mph, then i have a slight incline up hill (but to look at its allmost flat ) it takes 1/4 mile to travle along this top speed is 30mph. then a junction so a near stop. another 1/4 mile gets to 30mph. another junction. the next step is a steep down hill slope 50 meters long at the start then is a good mile flat with a . on the flat it gets 45 mph ish. the rest is down hill steep. it gets 50mph.

in reverse coming back up the steep hill it does 20-27 max. on the flat 40-45, untill that short hill does 20-23mph the rest of the trip it gets 35-40.

im not expecting lots but hoped after all the mods that she would not go below 30mph( hoped when she got to 30 she would stay there.)

when i did the cdi and the boss it seemed almost the same as it does now( by that i meen i think its exactly the same ) been sort at talking my self into thinking its changed. am i missing somthing does this sound right?

rant over Undecided

You could try 5.1g rollers, i like them a lot. Your will lose some top end tho. Now i only get around 41-42mph in flats but acceleration and uphills is good for me. I got a couple of long steep hills on my way to work, used to drop to near 20mph on stock set up but now it only goes down to 30/31/32mph,even accelerates up a lot of hills, mine never drops under 30mph unless i hit a monster hill. Saying that o never really dropped under 30mph even on the 5.5g's.

I shaved 1.2mm off my drive boss too which gave me better top speed, now its at 36.8mm instead of stock 38mm. The Malossi oit comes with a 37.5mm boss i believe.

Maybe buy a cheap tach off fleabay to see how the revs perform on the hills, mine was a tenner from the US. You really need to keep the rpm over 6500, closer to 7000-7200rpm really.

yer had tought of that but also thought that the cdi may be pants.or down to me. lol as i dont know what the ajustable ignition curve does. i have played with it but it just seems to work like the idle screw on the carb. when fully turned revs slightly higher.but does not seem to do anything els.

just got plug off after a fue days.and now looks like its a touch rich(went through 9 plugs) to get this far. real expencive.lol

to these guids http://www.braigasen.com/howtoread.htm and
                      http://www.4secondsflat.com/plug_chart.html

plug looks nice but a little sutty on the flat surface brown its almost black

timing tip is perfect + heat range

isurlator i can see is white about 5mm then brown so im thinking down jet to 88/89 and should be good.

but the jettingb sounds way to low i was expecting needing near mid 90 s

Just takes time, i kept going back to stock for a few weeks when i got pissed off wasting plugs, then went back to trying it again on open filter. Like i said prob took me 4-6 months of messing about on and off to get it.

Also remember that when its perfect one day it can be a little off the next due to our great weather here. I just settle for a compromise where its not ok on all days.

thanks streido. i had thorght about weather affecting it, may still go back to 90 jet yet.

keep reading on these new threds how new ish a 50 are not as fast as old. that may be the problem hear as its an 2010. kymco prob changed something which makes them slugish.

well will see how the 88 goes. if not the 90 will go back in and ill leave it at that. just cant belive i cant get her to stay around 30mph up hill. may try lighter rollers i have a 5g set left to try but think that be too low. did i read somewhere you can mix them?

I would not leave it 10 mins before riding it will take ages to warm up the oil at idle speed and just cause more wear on the piston rings etc, the best way is start it up then why putting your helmet and gloves is long enough at idle 1 to 2 mins is long enough then ride it for the first mile without full throtle although you dont want to warm it up to fast you still want it up to running temp fairly quickly as a engine gets most of it wear from cold starts.....

Yeah you can mix rollers for test runs but if you leave mixed ones in then the heavier ones wear out before the light ones. Mixing 5.5's and 5g's would give you 5.25 g rollers. I would try the 5's but up to you, may be a tad light   :-\  Sure Wordslinger ran 4.9g for ages with a 1000 rpm torque spring so they may be ok with your 1500? Im only .1g per roller than 5g's so may be ok?

i normally do same as Kisbee, start it up then go in and get on my jacket, gloves, helmet and get my bankcard and money etc for work and jump on and go. Prob idles for 2-4 mins at most. Coming home it idles 1-2mins at most before i ride it.
