Need HELP!!! installing Prima XL windscreen

 I just bought a Prima XL windscreen for my 2009 People 150 from Scooterworks.  Package arrived promptly (hurrah!) but without any instructions (boo!).  I called Customer Service and got nowhere; after fumbling around "looking" for the instructions, the rep finally told me that I had to "drop" the turn signals (huh?).  The listing for the Large version on the Scooterworks web site does say "[y]ou will need to relocate the handlebar-mounted turnsignals on US models" but there's nothing similar on the page for the XL model that I bought.  Okay.  I posted a rather pointed message on Scooterworks' Facebook page (somehow it got deleted by the next day ;)) and that apparently prompted Adam, Sales Director at Scooterworks, to call me.  I talked to him and he assured me the windscreen will fit; in fact, he says he just put one on his bike.  I had him walk me through the process while I took notes and made a detailed sketch (I was at work at the time).

Well, two hours later . . . still no dice.  I'm convinced the mounting bracket simply will not line up with the two mounting points: the mirror on top, and the turnsignal on the bottom. 

Am I missing something??  Has anyone out there done this in real life???  HELP!!

I installed the Prima Medium windshield and had to bend the bracket to fit on my 2007 P150 (now sold). I left a review on the Denis Kirk website, but the pictures they have now look completely different from when I bought it.

The mounting bracket had a U shape that went from the turn signal area to the mirror mount. I had to widen this U to get it to fit. I struggled for hours trying to make it fit before I decided to bend the bracket.

Bend the bracket?!??  That thing is one-half-inch chromed steel!  There's no way I can do something like that.  It's looking more and more like I'm gonna have to return this thing.  Thanks for the info!  It was definitely depressing . . . but very helpful.

Just talked to my local scooter shop--Scooterville, in Minneapolis.  They said the Prima will fit, but I don't merely "drop" the turn signals--I have to remove them altogether.  I'll then run the turn signal wires to the dummy lights on the front fairing.  Then it will all fit.  They'd be happy to install the windscreen for me, though.  Only $65 for the windscreen itself, plus $50 to rewire the turn signals.  Ouch!  That's what I paid for the windscreen itself!  But I'm still not convinced the windscreen brackets can be mounted without bending, as described by Wiz.

When I relayed this info to Scooterworks, they said Scooterville doesn't know what they're talking about.  Great.

Okay.  Here's how the story ends.  I've thrown up my hands and surrendered.  The windscreen will not fit no matter how hard I try.  So I take it to my local bike shop, Scooterville, and arrange for them to do the installation.  They can do it, they say, but . . .  they'll have to modify the turn signal brackets.  Otherwise, the mounting bracket cannot be attached.  Oh, and they'll have to use a different spacer for the mirror; the one supplied by Scooterworks won't fit.  The good news is that it'll only cost me $65.

But the bottom line is this:  (1) Scooterworks advertises this particular screen as appropriate for a 2009 People 150; (2) although the Scooterworks website indicates that you need to relocate turn signals if you're installing the Prima Large windscreen, there is no such information on the listing for the Extra Large windscreen; (3) Scooterworks provides no installation instructions with this windscreen; finally, (4) the Scooterworks Sales Director swore up and down that this screen fits this bike--he even said he put it on his own bike, with no problems at all--either he was making that up or he was flat-out lying.

So, if you're in the market for a windscreen, I have two suggestions:  first, do not, under any circumstances, buy a Prima--it'll only cause you heartburn; second, be careful about doing business with Scooterworks.

Hi Larry. I’m in the same boat as you were. I bought a Prima large windshield for my People 150 from Monster Scooter. They sent me a Cuppini. Wouldn’t fit. Called them and they sent the Prima. Same as you, I got it to fit on the mirror mounts but then the turn signal mount wasn’t aligned. That’s where I am right now. I never got any instructions with mine either. Could you give me the instructions that ScooterWorks gave you? Monster Scooter was no help with install instruction. Thanks. Gary.

I was even considering cutting the chrome bar before it goes to the turn signal and then later fitting a flexible tube over the ends that I cut.

In my experience,  a whole lot of aftermarket scooter accessories, like screens, crashbars, etc.,  come without instructions  - or even worse - they come with them!

My 2 cents.

Beat, bend, and cut the aftermarket part all you want but leave the bike stock encase you have to put the original parts back on.
Become the best you can with what you have.
