gy6 50 to 150 swap
« on: September 27, 2012, 01:27:05 AM »
Does anyone know about how these engines compare parts wise? I just had an offer to buy a 150 engine for short money. It would be cheaper than doing a big bore if it was basically bolt on. Any knowledge would be appreciated.

And I know I should have just bought the 125 but the price was right for the 50 :P

you should be ok if the mounting bolds all line up.there might be a little dif.with the wireing.and you might have to switch out the cdi.

I dont see how it wouldnt work if the physical size of the 150 can be made to fit in and the length is similair so the rear wheel sits where it should. You prob need to upgrade your shocks too, or rear at least. Try get the cdi and other bits you may need with the engine.

Anything is possible........

You forgot swear and throw tools. I've seen and done the engine modsbefore. I got a ruckus with a 10x8 wheel on the back and I'm trying to avoid that on the kymco. If I can do this minimally modifying the engine hanger ill do it. I guess ill research it. Just wondering if anyone researched it already. I'll try and link my ruckus build thread from totalruckus.com.
Streido, the 600 was done to a ruck as well by someone in New Mexico. Crazy stuff.

Depends on where the mount are. On the agility 50, the mount are on the bottomside of the engine, so if the mount for the bigger engine are on the top of the engine, youre gonna have a problem. :D
First Kymco agility 50 (2008) 11.000+ km (dead)
Second kymco agility 50 (2010) 20.000+ km. Project Fuel Injection. Stolen.
Kymco K-pipe 125 (2014) 7400 km.

Not happening. At least not yet, I just looked too and it is indeed a bottom mount. I'm not fabbing up a mount yet so break in of the 50>bbk it is for me. Sorry to disappoint. I will make a build thread and include my ruckus build as well. Don't hate me :P....

Nice  8). I always liked the look of the Ruckus, its like a blank canvas just waiting to be scrawled on.

Love the Impala too.

Many thanks. Sadly, the impala is now owned by my old man. He deserves it though. The ruckus is getting a tear down this winter. I need to paint a new picture haha.

We had the same Impala before but 4-door, red, with a three speed in-line six engine. Very thick metal!
