2008 Kymco Agility 125... $700. Should I buy?
« on: September 27, 2012, 04:07:43 AM »
Machine is in pretty good condition. Motor kicks up fine cold, small issue with a stall out when cold but once the machine is warm no problems whatsoever. Only noticeable issue is a pretty tough kick in the shift getting out of first, seems like maybe a drive belt or clutch spring issue? Rides smooth after that. I'm assuming to address that issue at most would run $100 or so?

I'm a Kymco newb but really interested in this particular scoot. Any feedback?

Dont get the "kick out of 1st" bit? Should be a smooth acceleration all the way up to speed with no "kicks" at all since it doesnt actually go thro gears in the traditional way?

If its at take off from zero then its poss just a clutch spring/clutch problem. Wouldnt cost much to fiix that. Most other cvt parts will be pretty cheap online too.

You didn't mention has many miles on her. I'm sure for that price & a repair, you're still pretty good. Keep in mind a new Agility goes fo appx. $1800.00

Ooooops! Fairly high mileage, I'm assuming the odometer is in KM which says 10k kilometers, so about 6k miles. I've been told with proper maintenance these things can last a long time, and there has already been one motor refresh (valves, etc) so I'm not worried much about the motor... it seemed to be in good working order, sounded good, no leaks, didn't look to be burning oil or smoking.

As for the kick I mentioned, yes its from a dead stop... as soon as the scoot starts rolling and the clutch engages for the first time, there is a pretty noticeable kick/jerk and then it's all smooth sailing after that. Only happens from a dead stop.

$700 seems like a decent deal, from what I've seen the clutch spring is an easy fix (<$50), belt drive a little more pricy ($100) but still not anything that would sink me.

Yeah, I didn't think that sounded like much, especially on a GY6 motor. I'll put my offer in on the scoot and you guys will be hearing more from me in here as I ask a bunch of Kymco newb questions!  ;D

If you do buy it then give the cvt a good clean out and look over 1st. Prob full of dust and dirt. Also change the oils and do regular chages from then on. I do my engine oil every 2000-2500km and do my gear oil every 2nd engine oil change.

I'm a car guy and never had to deal with a CVT. Guessing I pop open the casing and just give it a good shot with some compressed air?

Buy that bad boy!  I just paid $1100 for a 2009 with 2400 kms, and it was the best money I have ever spent!

Proud new owner!

Rode her home, nice little 6 mile journey and she performed great. Look forward to seeing you guys around on the boards, as I know I will have plenty of questions.

The Agility 125 is the best "value" scoot on the market today! At $1800.00 (brand new) it blows away the Chinese offerings! You'll be happy that you purchased a Kymco in the end.

Congrats!

Thanks guys. This isn't going to be a commuter scoot, more along the lines of a go getter, short trip scoot. If she gets more than 500 miles a year I'd be surprised. I will plan on taking a good solid look around the machine this weekend and see what I come up with! I figured at $700 and the engine isn't destroyed, it was a deal I couldn't pass up.
