Ethanol and Email returned
« on: October 14, 2012, 05:29:43 PM »
I looked in my owners manual and it says no ethanol for the Yager.  There is no fuel available near me that
doesn't have it in it.

The People GT 200I and Downtown 200I do not say this and the manual says written in 2008. So I wonder if it's OK now? I emailed KYMCO using the info address on their web site and my email got returned as undeliverable.

It's not a big deal as you can just replace the parts that fail because of this (if any) but it voids your warranty
according to the manual....

There is a practical side of life in the real world and 10% or less Ethanol is a reality by gov't fiat. I have had to use that stuff on trips and so far have suffered only reduced milage. The book also says use only 91 octane fuel. The sticker inside the seat tub says 87 R+M/2 which is regular unleaded. I have been using 87 since new and it works fine.

A splash no more than one ounce per gallon. I personally use 1/2 ounce per gallon of stabil or my preference is Seafoam at each fillip. I live in super ethanol land too.

Seafoam is not an ethanol stabilizer! Stabil makes an ethanol enzyme fuel treatmeant. I have used StarTron ethanol fuel additive from the get-go. I own a Honda BF150 (marine engine) outboard & once ethanol came to MA. (like 10 years ago) I started using it. They were the 1st to come out with it & I have stuck by them ever since. Every fill-up I use just a touch of StarTron & Stabil (fuel stabilizer) Both in my Kymco GT300i & my boat. Here is the link to the StarTron product line-up:

Startron claims to fix all the problems with the ethanol so I'll be using a splash in the
tank too. I used it in my car and got better fuel mileage so it must do something.

The new blue bottle stabil is supposed to help with alcohol too. I'm not sure about seafoam
as it's mostly a cleaner. But it's like the old avon skin so soft, they had about 50 things it was
supposed to do for you (it was basically mineral oil). I had just hoped Kymco had gotten with the
times and made it able to use 10%. I asked my dealer but still haven't gotten an answer. He said
it was probably an old manual (as it says 2008 on the back).
