$700 for a ZX50 -Super Fever-
« on: June 18, 2009, 05:32:42 PM »
I found a seller asking $700 for Kymco "ZX -Super Fever-" scooter. should I pick this up? Im about to!!

Does the ZX50 usually have any severe problems associated with it?

(new to kymco brand)

I Think in 2006 the Zx50 was Discontinued although some places still have parts available and some parts from other models are interchangable.
Some had electrical issues but im not aware of anything major.
I do know that some Gy6 engine parts will fit ie: magnto/stator/relays

One for 700 sounds like a good deal as long as its running up to par
The CDI units sometimes give problems but those are easy to upgrade to a better one.
but then again im nmot an expert at anything and usually break stuff :)

ps. if its near me i will buy it if you dont LOL

That is definetly a great asking price for a ZX, if I were you I would do it.  They are comfortable and durable bikes.  With two modifications they can reach 50mph.  I keep reading about bad cdi boxes on these models but have yet to replace mine.  Go for it, you'll love it.

This could be a good buy.  I am in the early stages of a ZX50 rebuild.  I paid $200 for the bike with 14k km on it.  I just got it running and now have to tune the carburetor.  I plan to replace the cylinder with one slightly larger.  I have several electrical issues to address as well.

I have owned several Kymcos.  i have two Agilities, which my son likens to an ugly girl with money.  She never lets you down.  I have the ZX50 project and my brother bought a People last week.  I had a People 50, which was stolen.  The bikes are all easy to get parts for.  They are tougher to work on than a Tomos, but I am getting the hang of it.  They have all been reliable and comfortable.  They seem to have a longer wheel base than other scooters.

If the ZX50 looks OK and runs OK, then $700 is a great deal.

Tim
