Tire Pressure ?

The manual says 25 front and 28 PSI rear.

But the VIN plate says 32 PSI in both.

What pressure do you guys use for a single rider, approximately 210 pounds?

 I had heard 25 and 28 was the best. I raised the front from the 22 the
dealer had set it to to 28 but might go back as it's a bit hard. Never did
get the rear setup as my super accurate gauge won't go on the stem,
there's not enough room to get it in there.

 I'll probably put right angle valve stems in it this winter. They should have
done that at the factory!

I use 25/32 PSI.
Sometimes, I have a passenger so I went for the two-up recommendations.

My sidewall says 40 PSI max (measured with a cold tire), so as an experiment, I rode aggressively on a hot day (about 90F) until the tires were hot, then put exactly 37 PSI in them.

My thinking is that even on a hot day, with the tires hot from riding hard, they won't go over 37 PSI. Since it's usually cool here (60 to 65F), and I don't usually ride aggressively, it'll usually be a bit below that, so I shouldn't have a problem with too much pressure in the tires.

I'm hoping to increase my fuel mileage a bit in doing this.

Let us know if it helps.  You would think firmer tires would result in better mileage.

I see you track mileage. How does your Yager compare to the MPG of other Yagers?


I've always gone with vehicle specific tire pressure recommendations rather that what's on the tire sidewall.  My thinking is, the tire manufacture doesn't know how the tire is going to be loaded / used but the vehicle manufacture does.  So I go with the manufactures specs. 

In my case though, Kymco had two different recommendations.

I go with 25 & 28 on the assumption that the manufacturer knows best.  I really feel all bumps so maybe I'll reduce the pressure a little.  It probably will effect the mileage.  About 65 to 70 right now.

I get 2 -3 MPG's by using 40 PSI in my Honda Fit but the scooter's
ride is a bit harsh even with stock pressures!

One thing to watch out for. Most car tires are steel belted radials, these
can be run with high pressure and not sustain any wear problems.

I'm not sure about scooter tires. I assume they are poly belted so may
wear funny if run with high air pressure.
