It Bogs Down
« on: June 20, 2009, 09:53:57 PM »
My people 50 has been stored for the winter. I put stablizer in it last fall.
It runs, but when I hold the throtle open it bogs down after a few minutes. Like it's starving for gas.
I have removed the fuel filter, but it still does it.

Do I need to remove the carb. and clean it out?

Thanks,
JimT

Would be wise..It doesnt take much at all to gum up or clog the jet
pop it open down there, unscrew the jet and run a wire thru it to make sure it isnt clogged up.
put it back in and watch her purr
good luck!

ps. Make sure your fuel lines arent collapsing when your giving it full throttle

I have had a similar problem in an old car believe it or not and what i found to be the problem is that the exhaust was partially blocked. therefore it ran for a few minutes and once the exhaust filled with gases that could not escape fast enough it died. once the gasses dissipate it runs again. So if cleaning the carb does not work you can always check your exhaust. the most uncommon things get stuck in there over the winter  :D

Thanks,
I guess I'll Have to remove the carb.
I forgot to mention that it's only 1 year old, if that makes any diffrence.
