its posable you could use one but each ring has a difrent job. seals oil scraper etc. better off getting the proper piston ring set. but from what i have seen its only $20 or so for the piston and rings. when just rings are around $10-15

Ive looked.  only 48mm set of rings i see comes with piston to.  and thats 39.99 and its from autotech355 ebay.
And he is closed his store till nov 14th.  i just thought since i have a sh** load of lawn stores snd bike shops i could get one around here.  but if u type 48mm piston ring on google.  top pick is a sthil chainsaw.  witch is 80cc 48mm piston.
So is a yamaha pw 80.  and a suzuki rm80.

Piston rings are pretty precise things. Usually there is a stack of 3 - 5 rings,
each does a different job. The differences are in the angle of the edge and
end gap. It is better to have the exact one but any will work after a fashion.
Try one and see. Just try to get the same position one. The bottoms are usually
oil scrapers, the tops are for compression.

Some of the big bore kits use a chrome top ring and a carbon bottom, I would check if the piston youre re ringing has a beveled edge ring landing or not and if so how steep of an angle. If there is no bevel I would say ya you can use any ring that isnt beveled, ie chainsaw. You can use 2 carbon graphite rings but not 2 chrome molys Ive heard, but not sure because Ive never tried.
Good luck man, its not too bad at least its a common size. Also the reason the yamaha and suzukis have more displacement than the honda/kymco is their stroke is longer than ours.

At this point I would recommend splitting the case and getting the old piston and ring material out of it, I would just do a complete rebuild honestly.
Have you checked your crank for side to side or up and down play? Something sounds like its wrong to keep breaking rings, maybe your cylinder is messed up and its catching rings. To install them you just line them up with the dowel pin on the piston with the ring gap and squeeze them together.

Im not sure which one you have but try to get ahold of him and see what he says. Honestly tho think about splitting that case, its pretty important to make sure the messed up stuff is all out of there.

Crank moves fine.  it was the bottom ring and the piece that broke came out.  so did piston is just banged up were ring goes.  lucky i ripped apart after the pooof.  what is that extra thin ring for.  it just seems point less to put a ring over that ring.  and the first ring i broke did it with my fingers putting on piston.   the ring that blew this time was while it was running

All the stuff i orderd is on ebay 80cc bbk,  race varitior.

Next friday  comes intake, 24mm carb, cable and filter 130.00

And a leo vince exhaust 169.99 .  i knew it was gonna cost money to go fast.  but f*** it i got all winter to make this
Fast and prettty.

Watch video on you tube.  ya i put the rings in wrong. ? That will make it blow wont it
I put piston on crankshaft then jug. ? Video says wrong.  slide piston in jug  first then attach to crankshaft. ?
