Can't get belt back in!!
« on: November 10, 2012, 03:57:35 PM »
Removed the nut holding the variator.  Replaced the boss but now can't get the belt back in.  Is there a trick to putting the belt back?  Please advise.  I have a few more hours to get this done.  Thanks!

Well for future generations the trick is to compress the rear pulley
and sink the belt into the groove then clamp it somehow.

Slide the free end over the variator boss, install all parts and tighten
the nut as much as you can by hand. Then release the clamp to allow
the belt to be slack and tighten the front nut. This keeps you from
pinching the belt.

Just for the future...........

If you have the variator end of the belt off then if you pinch the top and bottom of the belt together at the clutch with one hand, then use the other hand to pull the belt tight towards the variator it usually pulls it into the clutch. Hard to explain so you may not get how i described it ???

If I have difficulty with this I usually take my ratchet with a socket that fits over the variator shaft. Pop the belt over the socket, put the socket on the shaft, lever the ratchet towards the front of the scooter and push the belt on the shaft.
