The Honda Reflex has this setup and most of them change back to the normal setup.
From another site" K-Mod involves removing half of the rollers and eliminates the acceleration "dead spot" many experience in the 20-40 MPH range, ostensibly put there by Honda for some noise abatement issue. It'll cost you a bit of MPG in that range as it allows the engine to rev up further (hence power boost) at lower speeds. It's completely reversible (just put the rollers back in). I've done it to my wife's Reflex. Some folks are effusive in their praise, others don't like it. I'm kind of in the middle. It works and doesn't affect MPG that much."
You don't really gain top and bottom. You just end up with
a 2 stage variator where it moves at 2 different rates. Most people sense this
as a lag in response, so while it looks good on paper, in the real world maybe
not much better than stock...
