Less stuff in the way for valve adjustments, cooler exhaust,
a tiny bit less weight on the scoot and looks cooler without it!

Not sure on an A50 but we got the egr blanked off on our Mazda turbo diesel as it tends to bung up after a while and needs taken apart and cleaned out if left in.

Sure someone asked this before and got a better answer not long ago.

I shut off mine to get rid of that awful sound at idle.... Contrary to what I expected, the engine is a bit quieter over the whole rpm/load range now...

As I did expect, I noticed absolutely no difference in performance, but for making the scoot sound less cheap and annoying, I think it's worth the effort...

The only downside is an invisible one : the system is meant to deliver oxygen to burn some of the gasoline residues and carbon monoxide which are present in the exhaust gases...

So in theory the engine pollutes more now..

In practice these systems are not so efficient, especially in the primitive way they're implemented on our scoots...
And, in a world where large jet airliners spill hundreds of litres of unburnt fuel at takeoff, and solvent-based paint and aerosols are used in extremely large quantities, I really can't feel guilty about adding a teensy tiny bit of gasoline to that cloud...

..it does, because it is emitting more carbon into the atmosphere...

                   ..just ask al gore...

..it is also storing it's own carbon in your pipe...

..if you do this "mod",  might want to add Seafoam to your fuel from time to time...

                                             ;)
..every mod (action) necessitates a (reaction) mod..

I've never seen the sticky kind of carbon deposits you get with a two stroke in the exhaust of a four stroke...

I'm not going to worry about it.. I've owned a few cars without EGR / secondary air systems, that had done more than 100000km.. And I've never seen a serious carbon buildup in the exhaust of any of them, only a thin coat of dry soot, of which any excess is just blown away... As far as I know, this could only become a problem if you're driving with a worn piston and rings, and burn as much oil as a two stroke  8)

I tried blocking off the Pair stuff on my Yager and noted some black soot in the hole where
the air should go to get into the exhaust. I didn't think it should go backwards like that. You
will get soot during warmup when it is running rich. I don't think it would ever build up enough
to be a problem.

By the way, on the Yager the block off caused it to get herky jerky at low throttle openings as
the EFI leaned out the mix believing the extra air was there. I had to put it back to stock to get
it to perform correctly.

when the egr goes bad, scoot back fires a lot... people just block 'em instead of fixing... it's cheaper....

Here you go... The top part is an air valve that sends fresh air down into the exhaust. Remove the chrome
tube and block off where the yellow line is circling.

Thanks bud. Question 2, why would you not just take the whole chrome tube off and block it off by the valve cover? Just asking....
