I think by the sound of it, your rollers are too heavy. Try 5g rollers inside your front variatior

Air filter cleaned out, variator stripped and cleaned, with just a quarter turn to the lean, near Saltburn in North Yorkshire, Down a steep bank... This
49cc scoot, indicated today...70 miles per hour!

Amazingly, this little stinker is still going. It's regularly up in the high 50's and low 60's.
My son is now working and content with the bikes performance..

I've been thinking about upping the final drive gearing at the back and maybe.... Just maybe biting the bullet and buying a pollini variator

The ped developed a bit of a rattle last week, after a good listen to the engine, we were sure it was piston slap. Wear to the piston, it's rings and probably the bore.
A quick look on eBay and a complete top end kit with gaskets was ordered.
£18 delivered ! Fantastic.
Took the bike to bits yesterday and the side skirts of the piston were black, indicating blow by.
The lower ring was seized in and the bore was scored.

An hour or so later the little stink machine was back together and running.
60/80 miles and it ll be run in.....

Now I'm wondering if the extra compression will give it a little more shove?
I kept the barrel kit at 49cc, cos I still think that bbk s are cheating !

The bike has had a few gentle miles done on it now since the top end rebuild, the mixture was richened off for a period of time but last week it was leaned back off. When I did the ecu splice, I fitted a switch so that the bike could be limited again. My son obviously wants the bike to go quick, but I don't want it nipping up, so the rev limiter is back on.
Even in this state though , it is still hitting 50 mph with two people on it.
I'm thinking that a spot of speed testing could be in order this weekend

Update. The little stinker is still going well. My son has now covered over 8000 miles since getting it.
Today it has passed it's annual uk road worthiness test.
It's speed has fallen though, maxing out at 45mph.
The transmission cover has been removed and we have put it down to a worn and stretched belt. A new one is being ordered tomorrow. Going for another genuine bando. Will let you know how the new belt affects speed

After a few years of trying all sorts of belts I find the OEM bando to be the best for top speed. They may not last too long (in tuned bikes) but they are the correct length for full travel on the pulleys.
Gates Power Link will out last everything else but they do drop a few MPH because they are slightly shorter. Malossi is GREAT for a few hundred miles but they explode when they retire. The China knock off's??? Don't waste your time.

Thanks Bro! I will.
I forgot how good it feels to be able to help soooo many people or maybe just share some ideas.
This is without a doubt the best, and most well rounded group on the net.
I only have one issue...I need a new AXY! Anyone???

Don't worry one will come creeping in from the big bore bike threads... wait, medium small bore, yeah that's better. He or she will come in here for no reason other than to make a dumbass comment. Sadly since passing his car test, my sons scooter has sat about in the back of the garage under a sheet. I work away now and normally spend my weekends sorting my own bikes out.
This scoot still needs speed testing following it's new belt, then I think it will be going up for sale.
I'm expecting 53-57 mph on the flat and 60-65 downhill.
I'm gonna be sad to see it go but it's just not getting used.
