nubie in desperate help!!!!!
« on: December 20, 2012, 07:57:44 PM »
???hey guys im a nubie at self repairs. ok i have a 2009 kymco agility50 cc i am trying my best to find out what is wrong. at first it would drop down from 40mph to 10mph out of no where. but 30 minutes later it would shoot back to normal. one day after hitting a bump it just stayed at ten and would not go back up. so i changed the oil and the fuel filter, i took it for a ride and it was wrking normal next thing i know she just cut off on me. i thought maybe the battery would be the problem so i got it charged. once again she started working but when i gave her a rev and she cut out on me. now she wont turn over. she make the noise like she is trying to start up but wont catch. What can I do

How many miles do you have on your Agility? Did you store it without riding for some time too? I wonder if your carburetor is gummed up or if you need a valve adjustment.

What happened when it used to cut down in speed? Did the revs just die or did it splutter and run rough?

1st check if you got a spark at the plug, take the plug cover off, pull out the plug, push the plug in the cover and hold the end of the plug onto a nut or bare bit of the frame to earth it, now get someone to crank over the electric start and see if you get a spark jumpng from the tip of the pkug to earth.

Checked the battery box isnt full of water and shorting the cdi? Or the cdi has corroded connectors?

I take it you opened uo the cvt to have a look inside? Thats the simplest thing to check 1st. Open it up and check the belt looks ok and isnt frayed or splitting on its edges. If you got the tools take off the variator and check all that out and the rollers too. Alao check the rear pulley looks ok and again if you got the tools take it off and make sure it moves freely and is all ok. I had a torque drive face snap off the pulley before on mine, just sat there wobbling.

Could also be dirty carb/carb jets, dirty fuel filter, dirty fuel line, manifold leak or a load of other things. Have a look and let us know what you find.

Good luck.

A bike with no spark would not run at all.
This sounds like a cdi issue. Remove your panels and check the connections to your cdi, you've probably got water in one of them. Take em apart one at a time, blow them out with a hair dryer and once you've put them back together, waterproof them tightly with self amalgamating tape. If this is not the issue, then it will be a fuel or air intake issue, look for nipped pipes from or to the carburettor or nipped pipe to the air box, dirty or blocked air filter

Make sure you let us know what caused the problem once you find it. These guys gave you plenty to start with so tell us what did NOT work, too.

one more thing to check, water in the gas ,. when it runs bad , give it a shot of fresh fuel, directly in the carb.,  and see if it revs up,.
