Starter keeps running - Solved

I've had the same problem that was reported in

where the starter keeps running even when you turn the scooter off and pull the key out. The dealer told me that it is the starter relay and gave me a new one. A few days later, same problem. Within one day, I had to take the seat off twice and hit the starter relay with a wrench, and the starter immediately stopped running. To me, that's proof that it is the starter relay that gets stuck.
I decided to try a different relay, based on mudshark's post, and got a 40 A Duralast relay from Autozone and a matching wiring harness from Pep Boys. Since then, no more problems!

Thanks for the info and the picture. I had mine replaced twice and my 2 yr. warranty runs out next month.I am going to try this when it sticks open again. Of course it will go bad after the warranty expires!

  So are we thinking the stock relay can't handle the current? I have an old BMW that likes to
weld the starter relay but only when the battery voltage is low...

 My Honda Fit car had a poor connection from the frame to engine (from brand new!) so I
added a 4 gauge jumper, it used to turn over slowly now it's fine!

..sounds like it...somebody check part # cross-reference with the ppl 150 relay...
