Ordering Wind Deflectors and Nitrogen Shocks

As a belated Christmas gift to myself I ordered a pair of tinted wind reflectors and a pair of nitrogen shocks. I'll report later on my impressions of them.  Part of my inspiration was sticker shock at a local BMW dealer when I dropped by to look at a new C600.  The dealer only had one and by the time they added a $900.00 option (don't know what), shipping, assembly, TTL, light dusting fee and a whatchamacallit tax - the tab came to nearly $14,000.00 US.  I inquired about a trade for my 500 and was told the dealer didn't accept Kymcos in trade because of some past "bad experience" with Kymcos.  I informed them that it was not smart to talk down Kymcos because the C600's engine was built by Kymco.  Jaws dropped and eyeballs rolled.  I told them that I personally know of one 500 with more than 35,000 miles on it and that it was an excellent machine.  Long story short -  based upon what they eventually offered me I saved $9,000.00 by walking out.  So what's a few hundred more to celebrate my beautiful bargain.

Sad, but due to the price, the BMW scoots will probably sit and gather dust on the show room floors. (That's BMW for you)? If I was going to spend anywhere near that price I would wait for the My Road and save 1,000's of $. In the mean time I will travel back and forth across the country at 500-700 miles per day two up fully loaded on my old under powered, un-reliable X500. BTW, I am now at about 37,000 miles. :) ;) :D ;D :o 8) :P :-*

My thoughts exactly SM.  If as and when the My Road shows up that will be a greater temptation to me.  Reading posts about the new Beemers on other forums leads me to believe they will turn out to be expensive beasts to operate.  I love my 500 and was actually looking at some cold-weather gear when a salesman saw my 500 in front of the dealer and the C600 discussion came up.

The retail on the nitrogen shocks is I believe $199.00 per shock.  My dealer said he will give me a better deal.

Urbestfriend has been following the BMW 600 Series for some time now.  The Louisville Harley- Davidson shop also handles Vespa and BMW.  I believe the price has been around $10,400.  In fact, I've continued to look for an old C3 and the only one I found was in at Barber Motorsports Museum.  It
was also too expensive in it's day.  As for this new model,  I recall there were several holds on the original release due to working out several bugs.  I'll bet their reply was stumbling when your source realized the engine was Kymco.

Mine has over 45000 now, and becky's even more. I still sport it, and i still havent done a valve adjustment!

The big problem for me on those BMW's is the poor fuel economy, 40–47 mpg, my car can do that.
I'm waiting for the Honda Integra, 700cc and 65 - 70 MPG's. That's what drew me to the little scoots
and has kept me away for the big ones. I had an Aprilia 500 that got around 50 MPG's. My new Yager
gets 80 but most anything bigger the mileage goes downhill fast!

 I wonder why the European's are buying the big bikes. They pay $10 a gallon and have always had
small vehicles but now the all have Van's and MaxiScoots....

I have to agree with Randy...I even like the look of the Honda Integra better than the Beamers.

I will keep my 2007 X500 for a long time. I just can't see paying $10,000 plus for a new bike that perform's just a little better (power wise) than mine? Right now if I was going to go new, I would stick to the X500. I like the dual head lights on the 2013, but there are some swinging deals out there on new left over 2010's - 2012's. :-*

I have to agree with Randy...I even like the look of the Honda Integra better than the Beamers. 

I read that Kymco manufactures the Integra engines for Honda.  Imagine that.

I believe that Kymco makes (or made) a 450 and that the 650 is made by another Chinese factory.  I get this stuff off of forums because it's not something BMW readilly discloses.  I'm sure you remember when the British bikes and Harley-Davidson were considered the standards and the new Japanese bikes were viewed with much skepticism.

htcneil2, what do you mean by you still sport it? Does that mean you race it, or that you kind of sport ride it around? And how many miles have the 2 bikes gone without valve adjustments? Mine as far as I know has never had a valve adjustment in 37,000 miles, and seems to run perfect!  :-*

I have a yamaha tmax as well that why ibsaid i stull sport my kymco.

Yep 45000+ and no valve adjustment. However this maybbe why im only getting 40mpg!
