« on: January 19, 2013, 11:01:30 PM »
Hello, on my DT 300i, the gas gauge starts blinking @ a 1/4 tank, does anybody know approximately how many more miles / kilometers is left before you start pushing. not that i'm going to let it get empty, just wondering, also the gas gauge drops in 1/4's. full, 3/4, 1/2, ect.

keep it safe

Last summer I ran out of gas at 356 Km. just over 200 miles,  on my way to gas bar I hit a detour ,  now I cant go so far because I have a top case and if I plan on returning late at night, I install my side cases, for the lights,  I fill up at 260 Km. now, Im getting to o;ld to push now,   I JUST PASSED 28,000 kM. while the roads were clear of ice and snow,  last night we got a foot of snow , no more riding for a while, then it going to   -25 C.that I thnk is  -5 F. ,

I found that when it start to flash you have about a 1/2 gallon left .5 to .6 at least with mine starts to flash I fill up and takes 2.75 gallons so deduct from 3.3 max = reserve. I also found that using Scooter Power 4T 5W40 synthetic improved performance and mileage. Oil is not expensive about 12.00 liter, well worth it.

Half gallon remaining seems to be the Kwang Yang "standard" for low fuel warning. I have been watching the gas mileage on my new x500 for an ongoing review I've been posting on another forum and filling it up as soon as the light comes on, it usually takes half a gallon less than the tank capacity in the specs. If you know your usual mpg with your particular riding style, then you know how close the gas pump has to be when you get the warning

I fill up before the red mark... then I need not pray...  ;D

Last winter I hooked up a gravty flow tank and used it when the weather was realy cold .The scoot starts better like that for some reason. I just have to unplug the choke and switch the gas lines around and im all good. 2 tanks are better then one. I did not beleave how good a gravty flow would work I might try it all the time but not sure yet.
