Mirrors do not fold
« on: February 25, 2013, 11:38:40 PM »
Connected the battery today and the mirrors extended.  I might have hit the switch when I was washing it.  Now both the mirrors will not retract.  I changed a good looking fuse with a new one and still nothing.  It is like it is not getting power as both sides do not work.  Any suggestions?

That is better than them being folded away.   ;D

That was fuse "E" that you changed ?
Since you checked the fuse, you may want to check the switch.
Try flipping it back and forth a few times.

Maybe you got water in it when you washed the scooter ?

Life isn't easy.... the mirrors are connected to a Back mirror controller,
which is powered by the fuse "E"  through the position switch.
But there are 2 other wires associated with the controller.
I would try to locate the mirror controller and  inspect the  connectors that hook to it.
Perhaps there is a connection problem there.
I do not know where the controller is located.
There is a table for the resistance values for the connections on the controller. (page 19-7 in the service manual)
But I am unsure how to read it.

Maybe the best is to wait for a breezy sunny warm day and hope that an hour in that weather will cure the problem.

Good luck, and let us know if you find a solution.

I have a manual like this:  http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kymco-Service-Manual-Grand-Dink-250-/230813766233?pt=Motors_Manuals_Literature&hash=item35bd929259&vxp=mtr

Must have been water on the switch.  Works fine a day later.  Thanks.

So glad because it didn't look easy to fix.  You may want to consider the service manual on EBAY  if you plan to do any repairs.
Not the best manual, but better than guessing.

Thanks for letting us know the outcome.
