Hi Blue!
I'm not sure what you mean buddy. Are you talking about stale water that has been sitting up in a bucket or something? I've used just plain water right out of the fawcet to top off my car batteries, especially in hot weather when the evaporation rate was high and it worked just fine. I can remember a dry, dead battery coming back to life and cranking my car after filling the dry empty cells. You know they tell you to use distilled water to avoid any contaminants or impurities when topping off a battery but like I said I have used regular tap water in an emergency. I hope this helps.

If you are keeping your battery for a long time, I would use only distilled water,. but in a emergency, use whats handy,

Wow Mike! A PhD!  I worked as a Human Resource Officer/Manager for 17 years, but never had a formal degree in human behavior....  but... lots of studies on Labor law... ;)

Blue: Please do yourself a favor & get this Battery Tender Jr. here:

http://www.amazon.com/Battery-Tender-021-0123-Junior-Charger/dp/B000CITK8S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1362408731&sr=8-1&keywords=battery+tender+jr.

You may already have one, but I can tell you it's the BEST $25.00 I ever have spent! I seen semi-junk batteries last a lot longer when this is installed to your battery! It's best to own a self-sealed battery (Yuasa, MotoBatt or even Scorpion)

MassScoot gives good advise.  Most batteries are now Gel Type.  My brother has a big Peterbuilt Diesel converted into an RV.  Only really drives it to Mud Races in the Summer.  Says he keeps a Trickle Charger on it and has not replaced his batteries
for maybe 15 years.  At any rate,  Scooter batteries as well as Garden Tractor batteries rarely last longer than 3 years in my experience.

Blue: What type of scooter do you own & what year is it? I'l figure out what battery you need.
