Rear Tire Uneven Wear
« on: March 21, 2013, 07:51:54 PM »
Lately I've noticed some pretty significant uneven wear on my rear tire...as you're looking at the tire from the rear of the bike from center tread to the inside edge is wearing pretty quickly...on the inside edge there is also some significant chopping...is this an alignment issue?...how do i adjust the rear tire alignment?...or could this be pointing to a bigger issue like bad wheel bearing or axle issue?

Here's some pics...had to downgrade the picture quality considerably to fit it on here...the originals were almost 20 times the max file size allowed...lol

How old are your tires. At times when the rubber gets to old they wear down fast and they will tear of extra rubber. to reline the back tire you only need to make sure the bold is tight. check out kenda tires thats what I have been useing for years and I like.

The tire was on the bike when i bought it, last summer and almost 5k miles ago...i just noticed this within the past month or so...I've already resigned myself to getting a new tire, just hope there isn't a bigger issue.

There are lots of reasons for that damage... low tire pressure, kind of road you ride on, suspension problems, damaged wheel bearing, old tire just like Blue said..... etc....
