Wish me luck. I installed a new variator, belt, rollers ect yesterday. And at almost 37,000 miles the clutch looks perfect, but I did use some emery cloth to de-glaze shoes. I only tour, so shoes were still in fine condition. This stopped the chatter at take off. New front tire, battery , oil change, and I'm off to Arizona. It's 31 degree's out. Yikes. Wish me luck. 2000 plus miles to go!

Oh, I hate you! (spelled envy) Have a good trip, watch out for old guys in Buicks, and please enjoy the ride! Let us know when you get there in one piece. Sounds like a great ride except for the 31 F start!

Sounds like fun. Enjoy the desert. I am 100 miles south of Phoenix. Mid 80's here today. Wear lots of sunblock.

Ride what you like, not what other's like.

Oh to be able to hit the open road on my scooter for a long trip - sounds like heaven. I am most definitely jealous. Stay Safe.

It took me 4 days at about 500 or so miles per day. Bad first and second day do to cold and side winds. Third day not to cold and winds calmed down a bit. Last/4th day, worst riding day of my life. Seveare cross winds on I-40 from Grants New Mexico. Went south on Arizona 187 (@ winslow), to get off I-40 to flagstaff to avoid cross winds. Big misstake. Winds at top of bald mountains (no trees or anything to stop wind). Gusting winds at 67 MPH. Cars were pulling off road! I could only do about 30 MPH most of time. Had to stop several times just to hold bike up from being blown down. Could not turn around as wind would have ripped Givi shield off. Yes it was that bad. If I did not have the bike going into the wind, I would have been knocked down several times. Went down through Verde valley to I-17 south into Phoenix. Now wind was blowing due east. Had to ride most of the final leg off to side of I-17 with flasher lights on. Just horrible. Well at least bike is in AZ. Flew back to Michigan, will trailer my stuff and move back to AZ in about 4 days or so.

Sorry for the crappy weather. We did have one of the windiest and wettest days right at the end of your trip. The good news is we have about 330 riding days a year and you are about to have a bunch of great days. I also live in AZ.

I have lived in Michigan for the last 2 years. Before that I had lived in the Phoenix area for 30 & a half years. Do not like the endless summers, but it sure beats the MI winters and zero jobs. Anyone living in AZ send me a private message and maybe we can meet up on our scoots some time. Besides big orange, there was a guy named Hoolander who lived in AZ also, but have not seen his post for quite some time? See you in AZ soon. I will ad to the story of my trip latter when I have more time after the move.
