Doing valve clearance with .038mm gauge
« on: April 14, 2013, 02:36:48 PM »
Hello my fellow agility 50 owners. Today, I'm going to try and do my valve clearance (after 5000 miles of neglect...) I was shopping around for feeler gauges and the only ones I can get my hands on are .038 mm... I was just wondering if you guys think that would be okay to work with... Like, is .002 mm a big difference? I was going to see if I can get the valve to touch the gauge, then loosen it a tiny bit to make up for it. Well, what do you guys think?

Its best to have the right gauges. I do my agilty at .03 on both top and bottom valve. .02 will be to tight mine are more of a lose .03 the cages you should beable to find at any cycle shope or hardware store.

Sears has a cheap set:

It looks good,  unless you need an bent gauge for accessibility.

But Auto Parts stores should have them.

I use the same one and it works perfect. The manual calls for .04 but I like a little closer to 03 so .038 is between them both. Good luck!!!
