Fill to the add hole, or .18 L ?
« on: April 28, 2013, 11:55:08 PM »
My manual says add .18 L gear oil, while the service manual says to add to the fill hole in the rear end.
Is this the same? (I can't see in there to see if we're talking the same amount of oil)

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

My bottle of oil that I bought was marked in ml. I definitely added more than 180 to get to the fill hole. I noticed after I did the oil and gear oil my scooter launched better off the line.

check your manual for the exact amount, as if you over fill it could over flow into the air intake filter if it is the same as the downtown,. and not in the manual is check the puke tube,. (small tube with a plug in it ) near the air vent intake,.the downtown it hangs off of the variator cover rear end,.

I changed the rear end fluid in mine at 200 miles.  I filled it up until it started coming out of the fill hole.

300 miles later at my next engine oil change when I looked at everything really close and I see no fluid leaking anywhere.

You can also blow through the seals a time consuming and costly job.

When I replaced the gear oil for the first time I had it drain into a metric mixing cup. It was about 180 ml. This tells me the owners manual was right.

My book say 200ml or 200cc for gear oil.  I use a feeding syringe that holds 50cc and squirt the new gear oil in (4 times).  Easy to do and no mess.

I read that somewhere, but I think that is when you do an overhaul. For maintenance changes its .18 liters.
