I'm planning a week-long trip in June and looking into extra storage. I have a top case on the back and a duffel bag I can strap on the seat behind me. Has anyone added saddle bags or other extra storage?

Hello,

Remember to NOT overload the scooter. 
It weighs about 360 lbs to begin with, but I cannot find a max load that it should carry.
The max load is probably about 2/3 of the scooter's weight, which would be 240lbs  (2/3 of 360).
Now subtract the weight of the top case that you added.
Then subtract your weight including your riding gear.
That probably does not leave a lot of weight for additional packing.
Once you fill the area  under the seat and the top case, I expect you will be close to exceeding the max load.

Remember to pack the heavy stuff under the seat to keep the center of gravity low.
Also, check the max load for the top case... it is probably about 20 lbs.

That adds up to saying that you need to select what you carry and take care where you pack it.
And then have a safe & fun trip.

Remember that Goodwill & Salvation Army stores as well as WalMart are re-supply centers when on a 2-wheel trip

I've found with careful packing between the top case and the bags I can stash enough gear for a week.

I found the SEDICI bags at cycle gear for under $100.00. They fit great and went on in just a couple of minutes. They hold more than would appear and come with rain covers.

The included bungee cords leave a lot to be desired. They are too long and have metal hooks. Not a big deal to replace them with nylon straps.

I now have plenty of room to pack and I don't think the scoot looks "overloaded".

That's a good point, MaryK. I'll be careful about how much I load up the scoot. It shouldn't be that much, mainly clothes and a few supplies. I won't have any camping gear. My idea of camping now is a budget motel.

I wonder if saddle bags would be better than something on the seat behind me as far as keeping the center of gravity lower?

The main difference between saddlebags and a tail bag is the attachment.
To Access the area under the seat, you would have to remove the tail bag for sure.
You would probably have to remove the saddlebags also because the connecting part will cover much of the under-seat area.

There would be minor differences in the center of gravity unless you were carrying heavy stuff.
