Gear oil

Ladies and Gents,

Need some input...decided to change the tranny oil after a couple of years, was pretty dirty.  Manual says to use some kind of 90W transmission oil, but I used 89-90W gear oil since that's all the mower shop had.  He said 90W is hard to come by, but since it's a multiviscosity oil I figure that's OK.  Put it in, and no problems so far.  Was wondering what others use.

you should engine more often like 3.500 km or 4.000 km

Maybe his mileage in 2 years is 2000 miles...

at least he should change every warm season like the beggining of spring ?
(at least this i what i read at manual )

couple of years??
i changed mine at 1600miles, 80W-90, first service was done at shop so not sure if they did it too
I do really feel a difference while driving now, the accelerate is much smoother

I don't put that much mileage on the bike, but lukabasic, you are right, it gets changed initially after the break in, then at 1600 miles.  I found that using a 50ml syringe is a good way to add the oil directly into the hole and not make a mess.

They are called basting syringes. Get them in the kitchen section of many stores.

I bought mine at Walmart. I think its called a mixmizer or something along those lines. found it in the auto section.  makes oil swap a breeze!

Went to West Marine and purchased Quicksilver marine lubricant SAE 90($15.00 a quart). Purchased a plastic squeeze bottle used for ketchup and mustard in diners(97cents at Walmart).  The amount is 6 ounces measured from a measuring cup. The oil is blue, very slow flowing and sticks tenaciously.
