I upgraded from Grand Dink/Grand Vista 250 to Xciting 500. ;)

Mostly because I found my wife, which is very happy cruising with me.

The pillion seat of the GD/GV is quite high, the pillion rider has a noisy ride with full wind blow. The Xciting has a more flat seat. But higher for the driver, small people shouldn't play with the Xciting.
And of course, the 250 lacks some power uphill with 2 heavy adults.
Another big difference is the much increased stability of the Xciting with his 15" front wheel in comparison to the 12" wheel of the GD/GV.
The GD/GV has its advantage with much more agility in city driving and his flat foot compartment where you could store some bulk.

I think the GD/GV 250 is an all purpose scooter, not too big (but already a little big) for the city and not to small (at least if you drive without pillion rider) for landscape cruising.
The Xciting is "only" a touring scooter. And that's why I have a small 125cc for the city too.

I don't vote because none is generally "better". They have different weaknesses and strengths.

..I'm going to be buying a bigger bike around October...I commute over 30 miles round-trip for work each day..6 days a week..

..Half is 55 mph (62) two-lane road...other half is 35 mph city...moderate traffic..

..I's also like to be "comfortable" on the interstate...

I've ridden and like the GV. I only have my dealer's word to go on with the Xciting 250. He says it's the slowest, heaviest of the three Kymco 250 models. He's biased though, and prefers the old People 250 (like the one I ride) to any of the other 250cc models Kymco currently offers.

We're both eager to try out a Yager 200i, though.  :)

...well, I was originally leaning toward a sport bike...crotch-rocket...but, since I joined this forum...I'm leaning more toward a larger cc Kymco...so many models..so many choices...I guess I really need to test-ride, to get a better idea...

Sport bike has absolutely nothing to do with scooters, even those with larger displacement.
Perhaps with Gilera SP800. :)

Urbestfriend says:  If you can...run over to Barnes & Noble or Borders Book Store and
get Issue 50 of Scoot Magazine.  It's $5.99 and probably wrapped in cellophane.  If
you flip it over,  there is a separate issue of the 2009 Buying Guide.  The Exciting 250 is listed
about $800.00 more than the GV 250 does have bigger wheels and weighs about 120 lbs. more than the GV 250.

Myself....I'm partial to the GV250.  I can't give up the Electric Mirrors and I find them perfectly placed.
