The "How Much Did you Pay Thread"?
« on: May 10, 2013, 12:44:13 PM »
I'd like to hear how much you paid for a new Kymco scoot? Please state your location, scoot model & amount paid. Don't include sales tax as it varies by state/region but do include title or other "dealer" fees that anyone would pay.If you traded then the numbers are of little use to me or others. My particular interest is in the People GT 300i or Downtown models. They are commonly discounted & I'm simply looking for the best deal to be had within a reasonable distance.

Not exactly what you ask for but, this will help some.
9% sales tax - $5402  OTD for a new 2013 GT.
I ask the same question here you did before I made my purchase.
From what I could gather, 5400-5700 for a new 2013 GT is what people were paying on average.
I did not like the idea of paying $5400. for a 300cc motor scooter but, the GT is what I wanted and figured it would suit my needs. I waited a year for one to show in my area. This price was after two days of haggling.
To my surprise Kymco sent me two $50. rewards Visa cards to use as a gift.
This made my net price $5302..

I'll throw this pricing tidbit in, having just read a dealer ad & it says that from 1/2013 until June 2013 Kymco is discounting $100 under 150cc & $200 over 150cc for active, reserve,National guard & separated military. My question is r.e. the "separated"(as in how recently do you have to be out, or does it matter?)- that's a large group of us vets that might qualify???

New 2012 GTI300 bought 4/6/13 in New York State. $4776.60 minus state tax of $345.60 =$4431.00. That price was out the door with scooter fully registered and ready to drive home. Then at the end of April I received two $50.00 gift cards as a promotional deal directly from Kymco.

Phillipines style inflation reminds me of NG article this month about Zimbabwe which has had interest in billions of a % & they picture a $bill$ which is in the trillions denomination! Yours are closer to Mexico's example before they changed their peso some years back.

2009 Kymco Xciting 250 Ri bought "new" in April 2012 for $3995 out the door.  They had a 2009 People 250s - also "new" for $3495, which I almost bought.  Both were leftovers from a store that had closed in GA.  I bought the Xciting in RI.  The Xciting had a damaged front plastic, which they replaced at no cost.  When asked, they agreed to drop their dealer prep fee and shipping fee without any hassle, if I paid the full asking price - wasn't planning to finance it anyway.

April 2013,  2012 LIKE 200i LX (the blue & white model) dealer new stock : I paid $2699 +$198 freight (prep & set up $0) + $149 documents fee = $3046
$3292.72 on the road.

Then subtract $100 gift card I demanded for this purchase, so $2946 & $3192.72.

Next nearest dealer with actual Kymco scooter stock on hand is 46 miles away....for auto purchases I always get at least 2 dealers bidding for my $$ - but could not do that with this scooter - other than that $100 gift card. But I am looking at taking my scooter 46 miles for the "spring service" at a scooter-specific shop which may be as low as $74.95 (incl. valves!) before I pay my local dealer $382 for the 600 mile service.

You know, with on-line sales so easy - you would think a bricks & mortar dealer would work even a little bit to earn customer loyalty - starting with the  vehicle purchase~!, because a new scooter owner needs a helmet, gloves, armored jacket, rain gear, a cover, mirrors, locks, accessories, spare parts, Italian flags (!) and future servicing, , etc., etc. And guess where he's going to go for these purchases when he has gotten a "my way or the highway" response from the (mostly) motorcycle dealer. Phone home and tell the wife to warm up the Dell.

Is it just because I bought a $2700 scooter rather than a $20000 Ducati?

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

$382. for a 600 mile service is the most outrageous quote for service I have ever heard of.
All they do is change the oil in the engine and rear end, inspect cables etc.. It might cost the dealer $20. for oils and filter. The rest are labor charges.

$5700 for a 2012 Xcting 500ri w/abs.  I think it included taxes and all.  I'm going to say $5200 without all that.  I don't keep receipts for the most part.
