Kymco Agility 125 electricity problem
« on: July 14, 2009, 10:05:00 PM »
... started manifesting itself today. It has 10.500 kms on it.

1. Cannot run the scooter using electric starter (starter is dead when start button is pushed), runs normally using kick start
2. The horn has a strange squealing sound
3. The turn signals do not work and the flasher relay sounds like it short-circuited (I can hear a buzzing sound)

Number 3 could be faulty relay but I cannot fit 1 and 2 into the equation.

Tomorrow I will have a rendezvous with the mechanic, so I will let you know what is the verdict.

It is probably the same.

I would say it could be the dead battery, eventhough that would be strange - the scooter is 1.5 years old. However, the horn and turn signals do not work when the motor is running either and if it was the battery issue, they would work normally.

I will let everybody know what is going on after visit to the mechanic today afternoon.

the regulater rectifier is most likely the suspect, Charge and load test the batt, then check the voltage anywhere you get acess while the engine is reved up. should be over 13 v. If not i would change the reg.

Now listen to this.

It was a faulty fuse that caused a) horn to sound scrambled b) turn signals not to work and flasher to sound short circuited c) starter electric motor not to work!

On top of everything, it was neither horn or turn signals fuse! The fuse was glass-type (not cartridge one).

Changed the fuse and everything is back to normal.

Crazy s*it, that electric system, isn`t it?

p.s. At least, the cost to fix it was close to zero!

That fuse was most likely protecting the regulator.

That fuse was most likely protecting the regulator.

Nope, it was the fuse protecting the circuitry of heated handgrips. This makes the story even more strange.
