2007 Agility 125 > what do I need to do?

I am getting a "like new" 2007 Agility 125 with only 1K miles on it.

It has been sitting for a while in the seller's garage. It does not start up, which is no surprise.

I am planning to get new tires and a new battery immediately and have it looked over by my local Kymco wrench.

What else would you do to get the scoot up and running in fine form?

Any and all suggestions appreciated.

New - battery, tires, oil, trans oil, brake fluid, clean spark plug, check valve clearance,  wash, wax and ride.

Unlike your Honda Met, GY6 valve adjustments are less complicated.  Verify spark, squirt a little gas and carb cleaner into the fuel bowl vent tube, and it may start.

Is it possible if it was stored with gas and oil and other fluids in it that the lines are corroded and damaged badly?

I am having second thoughts. I am seeing myself already spending a few hundred on top of the $900 he is asking.

Do you think his price is appropriate?

I am afraid of getting into something that is messed up and needs much more mechanical intervention that I can give.

ALWAYS trust your instincts.  Your queries reflect a lack of even basic maintenance aptitude . . probably best to keep looking.

Well, your response shows less "maintenance aptitude" than even I know about or possess.

I do not claim to be a motorcycle or scooter mechanic. I DO have a basic grasp of how letting a scooter sit for years without running it can have an adverse effect on it.

Depending also on how it was stored, which with people who do not know any better, could be under the worst circumstances.

I think I will take my concerns to another board where members DO know something about my concerns regarding this potential purchase.

if you plan on spending upwards of 1300,  I'd  either buy one that's new and runs or save a bit more for a new one.  without it running, I wouldn't even consider $900.  I'd just laugh at the person. $500 and not running?  I'd take it!  save yourself a headache and go another direction.  That's only my opinion though

Yeah, well you guys got it right! Saving up for new is worth it and that's what I am going to do. And probably a bigger scoot than an Agility.

Meanwhile I will ride my Met that I purchased new last year.

I walked away from this deal. There are other issues here and so I am flagging the CL ad as a scam, not to be considered by others.
