Couldn't wait
« on: May 26, 2013, 10:04:16 PM »
I was going to wait till I got 1000 miles before I changed over to sliders. I did it today at 550 instead. Stock rollers appear to be 15 gr, and I put in Dr Pulley 14 gr sliders. I installed an iridium spark plug also. Definitely feel the difference.

I`m thinking of doing the same thing. I`ll probably wait till time to change my drive belt.
A little more punch makes a good scoot even better.

How hard was it to get to the spark plug?. Did you go at it from underneath or remove the seat and tub?.

Both actually. I had the little side panel off the bottom when I changed the rollers. (Under the passenger foot peg) It almost took me longer to change the plug than the rollers. I was a mechanic for years and have a swivel headed spark plug ratchet  that helped. There isn't a lot of room to maneuver. Compare old and new plugs. I had to take the metal tip off the new plug so the spark plug wire would snap on.

Too early to tell. Only have 550 miles on scooter. Have to get used to her and get a few more miles before I check it. I also have a Biondi windshield, and was getting in the 60's when scooter was brand new & stock.

Thanks for sharing Mr Mike.  I was thinking of buying the whole Dr Pulley variator kit but looks like i could save myself $$$ and just buy the rollers and achieve the same results.

Amazon sells them too, for around $8-9. I had a stalling out immediately after starting issue on my new DT300i, had them replace the standard NGK plug with the NGK iridium at its' first (600 mile) service and have not had the issue recur since (in about two months). It seems to run a bit smoother as well. Cheapest effective upgrade you can do.
