Charging system

Hi.  I have a Kymco Agility 50.  Something is wrong with my charging system.  When I rev the engine the voltage drops.  The higher the revs, the lower the charging voltage.  I've changed the stator and the voltage regulator and still the same result.  Can someone please help me solve my problem?  Thanks.

How good is the battery. the battery needs a good charge for everything to work good.also check all the wireing and see if everything is good and clean. kymcos run both ac and dc to work the scoot right.

Thank you for your quick reply.  Have already done what you've suggested to no avail.  The interesting thing is I thought a scooter that would kickstart with a dead battery meant the charging system was working propersly.  Mine isn't.  Considering the stator only has three wires coming from it.....is the white wire DC and the yellow one AC?  I'm looking to make sense of this as all other stators I've dealt with had four or more wires.

Not sure which is which But I do know that you need a good battery even for the kick start to work on a kymco I found out the hard way. MY battery ran dead and I sat on the side of the road
kicking and kicking no start. soon as walked the scoot home and put a good charge on the battery.The scoot kicked right on over for me with ease.Im thinking its just something kymco did.
So I make sure I have a good battery at all times. O ya theres a relay under the seat close to the gas tank clean that off and see if that helps. If you are geting a spark and the scoot turns over the stator is ok. and if the lights work ok your stator is ok. the big test is if your head light gets a little brighter when you give the scoot throtle thats also telling you the stator is ok. check your plug coil. I put in a new nkg coil and it works great.and at times when you buy a new plug it needs recaped. or just clean the plug. good luck.

you said you put in a new stator . Did you recape the wireing I Beleave they need to be 0.3
if not your not going to get the right voltage you need.

My Kymco has a DC CDI, you can't kick start it if the battery is weak because you need the battery for spark.... My other scoot has an AC CDI,,, you can kick start it even with a dead battery or even without a battery...

Thank you MotoRandy123 for the pics.  They explained a couple of things.  I am being confused by a part Scrappydog sells.  Here is their description -  "DC fired stator assembly. Where else are you going to find these? DC fired stators are found on many high end scoots and ATV's like Lance and Tomos. These have a yellow, white, and blue wire. $34.95" -  This is exactly the stator mine had.  Scrappydog is calling it a DC fired stator but the schematic and pic you sent are for an AC stator.  Here's a little more info.....I can start and run the scooter just by kicking it with the battery reading 8.4V.  But according to what I've read so far, my scooter should not start by kicking it if it has a DC stator and low battery.  I need help figuring this out.  Is the Scrappydog description of my stator correct?  I have the exact same stator they are advertising as a DC stator but my scooter starts with practically no juice in the battery.  What am I missing here?  Also Blue, thanks for your input but I'm not sure what you meant when you asked if I "recaped the wiring as it should be 0.3".  Can you explain with a little more detail?  The voltage output goes down on my scooter when I rev up the engine and the whole focus is to understand why it's doing that and how to correct it.  Thanks everyone again.

At what RPM does the voltage drop start? Is it a gradual drop? I thought all stators are AC... hmmm...

Here are some possible causes:

1. bad regulator
2. poor wiring harness
3. wrong type of regulator
4. regulator wired wrong
5. stator internally shorted

To me it sounds like something on the stator not hooked right. What I mean by recape at .03 is there is 2 black magnet typ things that sits just on top the stator while its spining they need to be .03 mm away they should be on a adjustable screw. maybe you can youtub on how to replace a stator.also how good is the cdi box has it been cut to rev higher. it might just need a new cdi and you did not even have to replace the stator.

also check for bare wires grounding off on the frame of the scoot somewere.

I too, have been experiencing the same issue (i.e. See Xciting 250 Possible Charging Issue).  I installed the new Stator and Rectifier ($160.00+my labor) Note; Be sure to buy the $9.00 gasket for the engine.  I'm running about 12.98 volts on the road. Funny thing is it goes to 13.0 to 13.5 at idle.  It appears to be charging, not just to a 13-14 max.  No draw ion my LED's or other wiring.  If I had bare wires grounding off the frame,  it should likely blow the fuses I have on each line.  WE MUST DETERMINE OUT WHAT IS CAUSING THIS ISSUE.  I didn't see any manual instruction on gapping the stator to the magnetic drum for this model.

Well the only other possibility is the magnets in your flywheel are weak or your
drawing too much current somehow....
