2012 Kymco Super8 50T Derestrict Recipie for 42+ MPH

42MPH on a flat road.  Great acceleration.   It took some experimentation but I got what I wanted.   
Mallosi 70 CC Kit
Stock Carb with Main Jet increased to #95   YOU MUST DO IDLE SCREW MOD
Air Filter
Scooter Assassin's Variator from EBay ($26.00) with Variator Boss Modification

Don't waste your time with the CDI or exhaust change as both are un-restricted on this model and year.   Glad I also didn't need to pay 200.00 for a new Carb.  Stock with jetting and adjustments was fine.

The only additional work I plan is a Kevlar Belt because I expect to be eating mine.  The biggest issue was the carb adjustment.  I had to remove the Idle Mix Brass Screw Cover and work a slot into the screw head below so it can be adjusted.  I used a plain Hack Saw Blade to accomplish this.  This was the key to get it to Idle and start after the mods were done.  If you don't it will idle erratically and be difficult to start when cold.  I attached a Carb pic showing the screw modification.   Mission Accomplished!   Note that the scooter is now surprisingly loud because of the air filter mod.  Just as loud as if I did an exhaust mod.

I you have a 2012 super 8 2t the exhaust has 2 restrictions. The small bind pipe that comes out the bottom causes turbulence in the air flow and there is a catalytic converter in the middle that restricts air flow. the cdi is not restricted.

I am getting 45mph GPS with the stock 50cc head and stock air box and 91 jet. If you have a 70cc you should his 50+ once broken in.  Have not taken my Super 8 out of storage yet but will check the new belt length.

Well I finally got mine working today and I have to agree with most of what you said.  The only thing I don't agree with is the idle screw mod.  Mine works fine without doing anything to the idle screw.  Idles and starts up just fine. 

I kept doing mod after mod to my scoot and could not figure out why it didn't work.  Turns out it was the Leo Vince ZX-R exhaust that I bought.  I took it off and put the stock exhaust back on an now my scooter takes off.  I hit 44mph and I weigh 215 pounds.  Here is what I am running

2. I have a 105 main jet in the stock carburetor.  I am going to try a 110 to see how that works

4. Polini racing clutch.  You don't really need this item.  You could simply get some stiffer springs and put them on your stock clutch.  I am using the polini green springs.  I have them adjusted to the middle since the clutch I am using is adjustable.  You'd probably be fine with the stock clutch and springs but your take off may not be quite as good.  Overall though top speed should be the same. 

I have the malossi variator on mine but I don't think it really does anything.  As long as you have the smooth (listed below) I think you will be just fine.

I don't know why the Leo Vince ZX-R exhaust does not make the scooter run any better.  I even installed a 17.5mm carb and that did not help.  The performance was the same as without it which was worse then when the scooter was stock.  I am curious how it might help with the stock exhaust but at this point I am happy with the stock carb. 

I do also have a longer belt and I got a rear drive pulley that doesn't have a restriction on it but at this point I can't say if those really help.  I say this because my performance seems about the same a Complex and he does not have either of these items.  I did get to 44 mph so maybe they helped a little but then again it could be the larger main jet.  I don't really know.  If you want to see what drive pulley and belt and some pictures you can see them here http://www.kymcoforum.com/index.php?topic=455.msg97422#msg97422

I also tried a Mallosi red torque spring with 9.5 gram and 10.5 gram weights but I found that I liked the stock 8.5 gram weights and the Mallossi white spring better.  The white spring seems pretty close to the stock spring so once again you could save some money and avoid that one too. 

If anyone has questions I would be happy to answer them for you.  I don't want anyone going through what I went through.  I will even talk to you on the phone if you want to go over some things.

Sinner, did you try the #110 Jet yet.   I'm still breaking mine in with under 400 miles.  I did get it up to 54MPG, Tucked, slightly downhill on the local expressway.  It was pretty funny doing it.  I don't ride like this routinely but I needed to get from point A to B and this was the best route.

No I have not.  It has been working well without it so I haven't been pressed to do it as of yet.  However I will have some time next weekend so I may give it a try then.  I'll let you know.

The free flowing gas has probably made your bike run too lean. Try setting up your air mixture


42 mph for a 70cc scoot is not clever.
It's quite easy to tweak a 49cc scoot to over 50 mph.
I'd be expecting 70mph+ from a 70cc bike

You should be able to pull off ~42 mph easily without the bbk by getting a better variator, and stronger contra spring, dialing in the cvt, getting an expansion chamber exhaust an proper jetting. If there is a cdi restriction you will want to take a look at that.

Getting 50mph out of the bike will be hard imo but I have read it is possible. check out this thread
