Marco: I have an early version (2013) of the Super 8. Can I ask...Is your exhaust cover metal or a black/grey color? Seems like Kymco might have changed it to blackish/grey color now. Just wondering.

My super 8 150 blue and it has a metallic silver cover on the exhaust.  I recall seeing the gun metal or black exhaust cover.  Problem with these exhaust is you probably want to spray some rust resistance coating on it to keep it looking new.  Personally I like the gun metal cover look better but no biggy.  I will try to post pictures.  I also have a SHAD 29 top box for extra cargo.

Maro0328,

Congrats on your new Super 8, you'll like it a lot.  I have the '09 in Green/Black, it's given me nothing but pleasure on the road.  Enjoy!

So my new S8 is in the shop now due to a fender bender collision with a car.  Scooter only have cosmetic damage while my body took most of the impact when i bounced and dented the trunk of the hatchback I ended colliding while avoiding a taxi cutting me off.  I am fully recovered now and can't wait until my scoot is all fixed up so i can go riding again.  The taxi cab that caused the accident of course decided to take off and left me in pain while the guy of the car I ended up crashing into went chasing after him.   :'(

Besides this ordeal...

I have a question about headlight issue.

When the scooter is idling... the light dims and turns on again and dims again, this continues until i start throttling again which is really weird.  I've seen some post on this forum regarding when throttling, the light turns off completely but mine is a different issue.  I wonder if its a bad battery and or power regulator issue? This does piss people off on the street especially the guy i am stopped behind at a red light.  I asked the dealer and he said this is normal?!?!?  I don't see how this is normal because if I am driving and a scooter or a bike is doing that behind me while waiting for the light it does get really irritating and rather find it really annoying especially when it looks like someone is playing with the light... I got the dealer to look into it while my S8 is in the shop for the repair but i want to know if any of you have ran into this issue and can give me some insight so I can get the dealer to fix the problem.  I am not sure if the light does that while I am riding but I will test that out and hope i did not get a lemon. :(

Thanks!

Maro

This is the Kymco Movie 150.... totally different....

See the "S8" at the side....

As to the lights... they are controlled by a light control module located inside the front plastic... when the scoot is in idle the voltage drops to around 7 volts, thus, dimming the lights.... this is normal... Kymco put it in there to save some power while idling... as they say....   Some would by-pass that module so the lights won't dim while idling...

Maro0328,

Sorry to hear about the fender bender, hope you are on the mend.  As for the dimming, my '09 dims at idle, but when you give it the gas and the rpm increases, the lights will go to full brightness.  That is normal for the '09.

Vivo: That's the new "overseas" S8. I doubt we'll see that upgraded version here in the states (maybe) I like the look much better! One thing I would like to mention is, when I was down in Key West Florida I noticed a S8 2T 50cc model that had the better looking Dark Grey/Charcoal exhaust cover plates. Mine has the straight metal looking plates like this here:

MassScoot: Yeah, I've seen those charcoal ones here... and even stared at one on the road and wondered why does that scoot have that pipe color ?  I found out later that some units randomly came with that color... if only I knew, I would have chosen a scoot with that color pipe... Any way, no real regrets though... ride safe!     Just stick a Yoshimura aluminum sticker on your pipe... looks nice..

I asked the dealer and he said this is normal?

Yes, it's normal. The charging system on the S8 is marginal (at best). When the engine speed drops down to where the headlights draw more current than the charging system generates, the control module switches them off and lights the small auxiliary bulbs. You can try turning the idle speed up a bit, but be careful about not having it so high that the clutch engages. I don't believe the lighting module can be bypassed on the bikes sold in the US.

That's what I previously do when going downhill at night...

Nope, the U.S. version can't be by-passed...
