Does anyone know how many miles you can go once the fuel gauge starts flashing?

My significant other tends to run her tank nearly to empty. She gets ~310 km (~192 mi) before she fills up. From my calculations (3.7 L/100 km, 12.5 L tank), she has another 20-28 km (12-17 mi) to go. She's fairly aggressive on the throttle too.

I don't recommend running close to empty, because you might have trouble reaching the fuel at the very bottom of the tank. Your mileage may vary too. Bring a jerry can if you want to experiment. :)

Agreed....I usually stop and fill the moment it starts flashing but the other day I was out in no man's land and wasnt sure where the nearest station was when it started flashing. Fortunately out of nowhere popped a small country store with a single pump...I was apprehensive about buying gas that far out from mankind so I only bought a gallon but the moment I did find a Chevron I refilled. And it is true, my bike does run better on Chevron gasoline. I would have never thought that since I had always used Shell or Mobil but my bike always seemed to sputter at takeoff since the day I had it..until I read on here about Chevron. No more sputter.

Flashing about 2-2.5L to empty. My average is 25km/L (~50km-62.5km)
Yellow Fuel light "ON" 0.5L to empty.(~12.5km)

Bumped this to share info:

Rode around until last segment started flashing which was at the 210 mile mark. Kept riding until the YELLOW  light shaped like a gas pump in the tach came on which was at the 248.5 mile mark. The last segment on the gas gauge was still flashing. Was at a non-ethanol station so filled up which took 3.22 US gallons.

I figure the DT300i is good for a solid 200 miles with a good 30 miles reserve. All this is on non-ethanol fuel. I think it will still go a solid 200 miles on 10% ethanol with a 20 mile reserve. I intend to get some Star-Tron and see what happens.

Hope this gets you closer to an answer.

due to a accident did a detour and ran out of gas 100 feet from the pump , filled up 12.5   liters so it was dry to the bottom of the tank,.

Yeah, De-dee, the book sez the tank is 3.3 gal or 12.5 liters. Talk about finishing on fumes! OK, how many miles or kilometers was that for you from full-up to bone dry? Did you have any starting issues?

If I remember it was 359 km. and it started with a 3 second start,. when it was dry I did not try to restart,  today I ran 323.3 km. and it took 11.34 liters,   and that is with some 130 kph. riding  ,. about 10 miles of that ,.
