lurch on takeoff

I just traded my agility 125 for this 2012 dt leftover and like it, However when starting from dead stop and just slight throttle it just jump off line which i dont like at all. It will then run normal with  throtle according to traffic.  I cant believe this is normal for this machine. I will be taking it to the dealer for check up soon . Any comments on this problem from someone else with this problem. just a little over 700 miles so far. Great forum!!

It might be a slightly glazed clutch surface. A little sandpaper to take off the shine will fix that.

Hmm most people want it to launch like that...

Is it a hesitation then a burst of acceleration or a shudder then smooth?

   It might be the clutch, there is three little O rings that the clutch closes in on,. they might be holding and releasing  a little late and you would get a fast take off,.  just maybe ???

It is aburst  not a smooth take off. Say if at a stop sign and want to make a slow turn into either lane it is faster than I care to make the turn.  And yes it does shudder. What grit sand paper . I may  take it to the dealer tomorrow or next day if it dont rain. Either way it needs attention.

Is there any chance that your muscle memory is cueing you to throttle it like the 125 as you take off?  That would result in a rather emphatic launch on the 300.

That's what happened to me when I stepped up a size. The TNG GS150 was always a WOT to get going. The DT not so much is needed.

Like the others said, the Downtown 300i is a much more powerful bike. If you are doing a slow maneuver, you may find yourself slipping the automatic clutch at lower rpms. There may be some minor chatter or shuddering. This is normal.

If you are going too fast for a slow maneuver, then try a little rear brake. But try to be smooth with your throttle hand.

Now if the shuddering gets rather violent or abrupt even though you ARE smooth on the throttle, then some fine grit sandpaper will take off the shine and let the clutch grab smoothly again. You need a variator holder tool or an impact wrench for this kind of job.

Sounds like you want the bike to go slower on launch. A stronger contra spring or
lighter rollers (or both) could tune that for you.
