Better flag?
« on: July 16, 2013, 10:35:26 PM »
I put a Shad cargo 40 top box on my GTI300. I made a little holder for an American flag and mounted it on the box. It looks and works great with flags up to 12" x 18". The problem is the flags. After riding for a week or two, they start to fray and look terrible. They only cost $1.00 apiece, but I'm looking for a better quality flag that will hold up to 30 - 70 mph winds. Any suggestions?

Speaking from sailing experience, you'll find that difficult unless the flag is specifically made as an automotive accessory and made to take it. Remember that riding at 60+, you are exposing that flag to a hurricane. It doesn't take many hours of that to shred even a well made one.

MrMike: Another thing that accelerates wear on your flag is when riding in rain with a wet flag, a wet flag is heavy and snaps harder... a smaller and lighter flag might give better results...
