Seat Cover?
« on: July 21, 2013, 03:58:31 PM »
A few weeks ago I bought a NOS 2010 S200 and have put on about 300 solo miles on it.  Yesterday my wife and I went on a 2-up ride for about 30 miles and we stopped about mid way where the scoot was parked out in the direct sunlight for a hour or so.  After we finished our ride we noticed that the seat had 3 lines about 3" long worn into the seat cover where it ramps up from the driver to the passenger area.  We determined that the lines were caused by the center and left/right pocket seams on my Levis jeans.  At first I was thinking that with my wife on the seat it was stretching the cover tighter over the ramp area (which it is) and my butt (Levis) was leaving it's mark.  She pointed out that the marks were not there before we parked in the sun so it probably has something to do with the heat of the seat.  It's probably a combination of both.

So I was wondering if anyone else has seen this sort of thing on their seat, and if so what did you do to protect it?

My first thought was to just pick up a sheepskin or some type of seat cover for it but after spending the morning searching I have yet to find any type of cover made for our Kymco's.  Even looking at the OEM parts list they only show the complete seat and that said "Call for price".  I was thinking that I could order a new OEM cover if/when I finally sell it but that does not appear to be available.  FWIW, my wife and I both agree that the OEM cover is the best we have had on any of the motorcycles/scooters (11/3) we have owned, we don't slide around every time we hit a bump.

Thanks for any comments/suggestions.

Ok, I can somewhat answer my own question.

I went out this morning to give it a bath from yesterdays ride and I scrubbed down the seat with just water.  After drying the marks were gone.  We figured out that when we made the mid ride stop yesterday we had sat down on a concrete (cement) walkway.... see where I'm going with this?  There must have been a fine powder on the walkway that for some reason stuck to the seams of my pants and were transferred to the S200's seat.

So... Problem solved  :-[
