Hi. So I recently fixed my water pump and after riding my 2007 super 9 for a while something started short-circuiting. The wire that encases the wires that go to the headlight and RPM tac must've fallen off the hook and melted against the exhaust. When I lift the wire up so there is no contact and start the scooter everything works fine, the tac shows the correct RPMs and the headlight works. When looking at the wire I can see some exposed copper (maybe 3 threads) but like I said everything seems to be working.
So my question is this: Can I easily replace the wire myself without having to dish out the big bucks, or do I have to have a professional do it to the expense of my wallet? Alternatively, how dangerous would it be to wrap it in electrical tape and hook/tape it to the hook to make sure it stays in place? Am I an idiot for even considering this?
Any suggestions are appreciated.
