Getting serious re. the Ride
« on: August 02, 2013, 05:54:22 PM »

The shock replacement situation seems a real dog's breakfast to sort at this time - so will work the other comfort issue -the Seat.
This has been an issue with me from day 1, dealer's floor.
I last 40 mins then have to get off the seat, as is.
This is a great scoot in many ways - but they missed the boat on the seat for big guys: covering (thin), under-pan (intrusive) and padding (thin in wrong places) sort of like sitting on a basketball.
Hey, for this price (what? $800 to $1000 less than comparable scoots) I am not fussing too much. I'm just going to get the seat rebuilt to my liking.
Taking a shot at it myself - if that doesn't work I take it to a pro who works on motorcycle seats. Youtube videos and tutorials on line.  Good quality vinyl and proper foam materials avail. on line.
Saw some pretty Vespas with lovely seats - liked this one.
Placed my order for the vinyl today.
Staple gun and electric knife in house, get foam and glue - and will have at it.
If it turns out OK will post pix - if not, will be back to delete this posting.
(working on the spare seat I bought off of a wrecked LIKE)
Color is classic saddle tan.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

I posted this once before, but just incase there are others like me l'll post it again. I'm 6'1", and I sit all the way back in the seat. Almost with my back against the trunk. I find that to be really comfortable.

I remembered you saying this - so I tried it the other morning. Man I didn't last 30 seconds back there!

Oh, that's not good. Maybe it's just me. I'd say I put my first 50 miles on my Like sitting where I'm "supposed to". The next 2300 miles in back.
