Silicon Dielectric grease those terminals!

While I had the the body work off my scooter checking fuses, wires, relays I noticed that many of the electrical connectors are not sealed ( normal condition, although a few key ones are wrapped with a rubber sleeve) Sustained riding in rain can saturate the underside of the scooter, this could be a problem sooner or later if you are caught out in the rain often (Ride a lot). Do yourself a favor and buy a tube of dielectric grease and do any electrical terminals you find when you are doing any repairs or Maintenance work. . Years ago the auto industry discovered that electric wire plug-in terminals could  mineral track and have a current or signal bleed from terminal to terminal. I have seen terminals on some bikes/scooters/cars very corroded-some from heat/ poor connection and some from retaining water in the terminals often. The dielectric grease is an insulator and waterproofs the terminal if you apply it correctly. and keeps the connection isolated.  Look up "Dielectric grease" on the web for more info-it's worth the trouble and the stuff is not very expensive.( be sure to put it on your plug wire/boot especially).

AGS brand from auto zone. 1.25 oz (about 4" long x 3/4" round tube) "dielectric grease for electronic components" I don't remember just how much it cost-but it was cheap, ($2-$3?) this much will last a few years. I think they also sell a smaller tube (.5oz) for alot less. And you are right WD-40 is excellent for electrical terminals. I remember an iccident where a member had starter problems-turned out spraying WD-40 into the starter push-button switch did the trick! -cleanes the carbon off the contacts.
