How many keys w/new KYMCO?

How many keys do you get when you purchase a new KYMCO scoot?  I purchased a pre-owned '07 People 50 and the previous owner only gave me one key.  I asked them if it came with two when they purchased it and they said they only received one key.

All Kymcos ship with two keys, but that doesn't necessarily mean they sell with two keys. Kymco key blanks are pretty expensive compared to Genuine, btw, by a factor of 3 or more.

when i bought my brand new kymco people 50 a few months ago i got 2 keys.

I believe it should come with 2 keys. I have 2 for my 2006, but to my surprise there was only Kymco logo on the keys no any other codes on keys. My Suzuki and Honda keys were with codes. So if you lost them, you can just go to dealer provide the code, they can just make one for you. For Kymco, I guess if you have only one key. You better check with the dealer to see if you can have one spare made. Just in case.

I used to have a 87 Honda Super Magna that I have only one key. Lost the key (found it 3 months too later) when I promised somebody that he could come and pick it up. Had to take the ignition assemble unit off the bike to the dealer and made 2 keys for the new owner. Ever since, I was in the habit of writing down the code number once I have the key(s) of any vehicles.

As for Kymco, I highly recommend you to check with the dealer for a spare as soon as possible. Believe me you don't want to wait till you actually need the spare.....

Take  your  key  to  a  locksmith...The  blank  from  a  non chip  honda  works  perfect..Just  doesnt  have  a  black plastic  end..$3.50

My XC500 came with two keys and a small tag with the key number on it. Probably depends on how responsible your dealer is.

Purchased my 500 Xciting ri in the Spring--got two keys and a number tag.

Two keys is a standard for every vehicle I have ever purchased and/or owned.

Sometimes they include a third key that is a master key used to "format" the blank key in case that the ignition system is coded.

I just lost one of my keys for my Xciting 500.  I have a metal tag that has D769 stamped on it. Is that the key code?

I stopped by the local key/alarm store and they only had the short Kymco blanks. Mine is about twice as long as they one they have. There a large length of the key blade that is uncut. Anyone know where I might be able to order these? My local dealer (the one a mile or so from me) said I should be able to get a blank from the key store.

Any info/help appreciated.

I'm not sure on your exact blank, but for my Vento I was able to match up a Toyota key. I just found a friendly sales person at the hardware store that didn't mind looking through all the blanks till we found one that matched!  It took three different stores before I found someone willing to help, but I got it!  Part of the problem was I didn't have a key to match off of, just the lock!

I have a call in to the dealer's "big store" about an hour away. Hopefully they can just use the code to order replacement keys.

I was able to call a local locksmith.  He told me that Kymco is one of the only companies who makes these blanks BUT he was able to use a blank from one of the Kymco ATVs.  It's got a shorter head on it, but it works great! Two keys for seven bucks...can't be it!

Both new Scooter's I purchased came with two key's each. My Givi Box also came with two keys.
