I believe it should come with 2 keys. I have 2 for my 2006, but to my surprise there was only Kymco logo on the keys no any other codes on keys. My Suzuki and Honda keys were with codes. So if you lost them, you can just go to dealer provide the code, they can just make one for you. For Kymco, I guess if you have only one key. You better check with the dealer to see if you can have one spare made. Just in case.
I used to have a 87 Honda Super Magna that I have only one key. Lost the key (found it 3 months too later) when I promised somebody that he could come and pick it up. Had to take the ignition assemble unit off the bike to the dealer and made 2 keys for the new owner. Ever since, I was in the habit of writing down the code number once I have the key(s) of any vehicles.
As for Kymco, I highly recommend you to check with the dealer for a spare as soon as possible. Believe me you don't want to wait till you actually need the spare.....
