New Like owner
« on: August 22, 2013, 06:14:00 PM »
Hello all,

I'm a proud owner of a brand new (well, I think it's a 2012, will give stig's suggestion on dating a go tomorrow), Like 125 in charcoal grey.

I notice that there is a Like 50 forum, and a Like 200i forum, but figure as the 50 is a 2-stroke, and outside of cc's and cooling methods, the 200i is more like my Like, I'd join you all in here.

I'm in England, so that's probably the difference, as I think the 200i is a US model, definitely don't remember seeing it on the .co.uk sites.

Anyways, new to the forum, figure I'd introduce myself before I start commenting in topics.

Hello and welcome! We have lots of Like owners here. I have the Like 200i LX 2012 model with about 2700 miles. It has been a fun scooter and dead reliable. I was wondering about the 125 model is it fuel injection or carburetor? I must say I do like the charcoal color. I might have gone for it had it been available here in the US. Enjoy your new ride! ;)

Oh boy, he may have a big problem because I do not think there's anything in my manual about running this thing on the wrong side of the road!
Ridin' scoots is scary enough business without challenging cagers head-on!!
We will keep you in our prayers - as we do all scooterists, for that matter.

A 125 bomber, eh? Cool!
When you get time give us a run down on this beast.
Welcome to the flock......
We, of course, believe you have demonstrated incredibly profound judgement and impressive discernment in your selection of scooters.
Most of us Gringos, of course,  went for this thing like it was a 2-for-1 Happy Meal sale at Micky D's and discovered only later that we'd brought home a great scooter. The Retro Look and Price put this neat scooter in many of our garages.....for Pete's Sake it was $100's less than others sitting in the dealership - and it had Fuel Injection, Dual rear Shocks, and Dual disc brakes ---- t'was a no brainer!

We weren't half so clever as your good self- we just got lucky!
Please do add your thoughts here - as you can see one does not need to possess a lick of sense or caution to post here - if we had either of those traits none of us would be riding scooters !
Again Welcome! and Ride Safe dear fellow!

Welcome!

I also have the grey Like (200i).  Depending on the colour of your roads you may wish to consider some reflective gear. This is true of course for any scooterist, but us greys look like floating heads in the right conditions.  8)

I am about to roll over 4800 kilometres (3000 miles for you yanks), and she gets better with each day.

Ride safe and have fun!
I Like you.  Do you Like me?

Welcome aboard! Glad you joined us. I think you are going to like the Like. I wish they had that color option in the US. I think that is the nicest color going.

This week, I am purchasing a Blue and White 2013 Like 200 for my wife.  her scooter will be the 2nd Kymco scooter in our house.  I have a Downtown 300i.

Any suggestion?

Hey Ruben, I think you and your wife will enjoy cruising around on scooters together. Is this her first time on two wheels? If so I would suggest a motorcycle safety course. Post pictures of your stable when you get the Like.

My wife's only 2 wheel experience is a bicycle.  She will be taking Motorcycle Safety class as required in this Great Nation called Texas.  Oops I mean Great State called Texas.

I was wondering what type of Iridium NGK spark plug should I git for her Like?

NGK - CR7HIX is the correct Iridium spark plug for the LIKE 200i.
CR7HSA is the stock plug in the scoot. The "....HIX" is the Iridium version.
I corresponded directly with NGK for the correct Iridium plug.

Thank you Stig for the information.

We picked up my wife's Like yesterday.  I drove it home from Lake Dallas to Grapevine.  Riding the Like was a lot different than my Downtown.  It is still in the break-in period.  The Like only had 33 miles on it when picked it up.  The previous owner bought it back in March of this year.

My wife has decided that she would like the front and rear bumper trim. I also think that she would be better off with wider mirrors.

Good on you for your new scoot!
33 miles to the previous owner? That may be some kind of record for unloading a scoot!
The chrome 'crash bars"  I purchased from a shop in Texas. Moxiescooter ?? I think was the name.
Bought my long-stem mirrors on eBay. (about $70 the pair) MUCH better view of what's going on - and coming at me- from behind!
Enjoy your scoots!
